PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Moreton Bay Rail Link is a landmark project set to transform one of Australia’s fastest growing urban areas. Thiess’ innovative and cost-effective design provides a fully integrated transport solution that connects road and rail infrastructure to future proof this expanding area.

Thiess is leading design and construction of this greenfield project including a 12.6 kilometre dual track passenger line, six new rail stations, stabling yard at Kippa-Ring, and shared user path. We are also delivering the third and fourth tracks for the brownfield 1.5 kilometre Lawton to Petrie section, in partnership with Queensland Rail.

Jensen Bowers were commissioned directly by Thiess to perform detail survey and rail track location within the track corridor between the Petrie and Lawnton Stations.

Thiess engaged Jensen Bowers to carry out professional surveying services using innovative rail location methodology within the rail corridor between the Petrie and Lawnton stations.

This involved the use of the GEDO Rail Trolley which simultaneously located the absolute location and geometry of numerous rail lines while a trolley mounted 3D High Definition Laser Scanner located the overhead wires, surrounding built form features and topography.

Jensen Bowers was able to complete the surveying component of the project “on-time” and within “budget” while working in an active rail environment by liaising with Queensland Rails’ Track Protection Officers and train schedule.
