Gateway Motorway – Off Ramp Intersection

A nearby development required major upgrades to the Gateway Motorway off ramps and intersections. As a design requirement, an accurate model of the existing infrastructure was required.

Terrestrial laser scanning was chosen for the following reasons;
• To avoid the cost and management time associated with traffic management
• Avoid inconvenience to the public
• Avoid night shifts
• To limit the risks of surveyors on the road
The busy intersections were scanned in normal work hours. Traffic and moving objects were removed from the data and an accurate model of the infrastructure was created to the designer’s requirements.
