Jilalan Rail Yard & Yukon Rail Line, Sarina

The Jilalan Rail Yard and Yukon Rail, owned and operated by Aurizon, are strategically located to provide maintenance and service to the trains which haul coal for the coal supply chain. These include Central Queensland’s Bowen Basin mines, the coal terminals at Hay Point, and Dalrymple Bay near Mackay on the North Queensland coast.

A proposed upgrade to the yard and line will enhance the capacity of the coal rail network and allow further growth of coal exports from Bowen Basin. Successful delivery of this project will be integral to the future expansion of Central Queensland’s coal industry.

To assist Aurizon in meeting their design deadline, Jensen Bowers innovated, using a rail trolley with a high definition scanner to locate continuous accurate track, overhead wire and monument positions for alignment and geometry.

Detail survey included structures, features, topographic spot levels and change in grade strings, which were extracted from the registered cloud data.
