Shapcott Base, Australian Air Force Cadets

Badge Constructions

  • Provision of detailed bushfire attack level assessment for existing and proposed facilities
  • Comprehensive Method 2 BAL assessment based upon radiant heat flux analysis
  • Recommendations with regard to reducing bushfire risk exposure and reducing building construction requirements.

The AAFC Shapcott Base is home to 120 cadets who utilise the site for a wide variety of AAF training purposes.

To better accommodate the increasing growth in cadet numbers, a range of new facilities and accommodation dormitories are required. The site adjoins a protected melaleuca wetland habitat, areas which are known for their ability to propagate intense fire events across SEQ.

Our detailed radiant heat analysis and BAL assessment methodology allowed for an improved bushfire risk outcome for this particular facility.
